Larry Britt is no longer Chairman of the Beaufort County Republican Party. That is a good thing.
The Beaufort Observer asked Mr. Richardson to explain why he voted "no" and here is his response.
I want to commend the Washington Daily News for finally offering to print a balanced version of the hospital controversy. Unfortunately however, at this point in time that is not possible.

Beaufort County Commissioner Hood Richardson has long been an advocate for property rights in his opposition to the US Navy locating an Outlying Landing Field in Northeastern North Carolina.
The RFP is solid, but it does not address some of the important issue the Hospital board will have to address. One of those issues is short term cash flow.
I have heard about corruption in North Carolina Government for years. At first I dismissed the charge as a rumor or just a cheap political trick.
The proposed budget dips into the fund balance or savings to spend $2,191,701. This is money that is not included in the proposed 49 cent tax rate.
