Historic New Bern’s Annual Family Fall Festival
It's the first day of the two-day event that is MUMfest, held in Historic Downtown New Bern.
Now in its 30th year, MUMFEST promises to be the biggest and best yet. Swiss Bear Downtown Development Corp. sponsors this event, now recognized as one of the finest award-winning festivals in the North Carolina, MUMFEST is a combination of family fun, entertainment and festival activities that annually attracts more than 80,000 festival-goers
to the revitalized beauty of downtown historic New Bern and waterfront. For 3 years in a row MUMFEST festival was named one of the top 20 events for the month of October, so don't miss it.
Back by popular demand, one of the top stunt shows in the nation, King BMX Stunt Show features three daily shows of heart stopping action with high aerial stunts when the best bicyclists in the country take to the air for a high-flying, high-energy ramp and flatland riding show!
9th Annual MUMFEST BOATshow on the waterfront at Union Point Park features boats of all sizes from kayaks and canoes to 60’ power boats, marine exhibits and displays, military vessel tour and water tax.
MUMFEST 2010’s endless array of attractions includes the live stage entertainment, roving magicians, jugglers, stilt-walkers, dance groups, the Carolina Puppet Theatre, amusement rides, Ronald McDonald, arts and crafts, commercial vendors and festival foods.
A 2011 car show, model railroad and Thomas the Train displays, fire and police exhibits, K-9 and retriever field demonstrations.
The beautiful gardens filled with thousands of mums in full bloom at Tryon Palace Historic Sites & Gardens are opened and free to the public for ths special weekend.
Although there is plenty of downtown parking festival-goers can enjoy continuous free trolley shuttle service from the New Bern Mall (Hwy 70 near Hwy 70 Exit) and the water taxi service between the New Bern Hilton Marina & BridgePointe Marina for $2 per person each way, children 6 and under free.

Bigfish FM is proud to partner with MUMFEST 2010 for this fall's biggest concert event, featuring Kutless, Sidewalk Prophets and Above the Golden State . With Kutless having just over 1.5 million albums sold and Sidewalk Prophets fresh from winning New Artist of the Year at the 2010 Dove Awards, Above the Golden State will be serving up a new collection of catchy anthems with a decidely West coast vibe on The Golden Rule. This concert is bound to draw record crowds. Speed Painter, Tim Decker
Tim Decker is a Clearwater, FL based artist who paints portraits of celebrities and other public figures live in front of a crowd in under 10 minutes. Tim studied art in college and this past year decided to pick his paint brush back up and start creating. He headlines many events and is causing a stir in the art world for his unique take on celebrities of today and yesterday.
His fun, contemporary style makes his work a must have for any art lover!
The Fantastick Patrick Show
Featuring three shows daily of amazing tricks and good clean comedy fun! Juggling of swords,fire, balls and clubs. Face-balancing of huge objects, plate spinning, a masterful Chinese yo-yo routine and a 6-foot unicycle riding finale.
The Silver Drummer Girl
Human statue, mime, professional performer and musician. The Silver Drummer Girl fools the audience into believing she is a statue. When tipped she comes to life playing the snare drum inspiring a unique reaction from each individual, entertaining all ages and walks of life.

9th annual Boat Show
A major attraction, boats of all sizes are on display from kayaks and canoes to 60-foot power boats. Marine exhibits, military vessels, nautical displays and demos add to the excitement. Wide coastal waters with steady winds provide an ideal setting for the 9th Annual Boat Show. On the waterfront in Union Point Park, the show has water craft of all sizes. Name brand boat vendors offer end-of-season sales and competitive pricing.
Pumpkin Patch
Visit the Pumpkin Patch at Christ Church, corner of Middle & Pollock Streets, for a selection of pumpkins,gourds,Indian Corn, mums and homemade baked goods. Let the kids enjoy the playground, bean bag toss and bubble machine. Free Pumpkin Patch stickers for all. Open 9-6 Saturday, 12-6 Sunday.
Pancake Breakfast at the Ministry Center, 311 MIddle St
Saturday, October 9, Christ Church will sponsor a pancake breakfast 7:00a.m.-Noon at the Ministry Center, 311 MIddle St.$5/person, $4/children under 12, $15 family of four. Eat in or take out.
5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk
Sunday Oct, 10, Run for the Mums is a Parks & Recreation featured event. This flat course race begins and ends at Union Point Park and goes through scenic New Bern historic district. Awards will be presented to the overall 1st,2nd,3rd place male/female runners in each age group. Starting time 7:30 a.m. for 5K, 7:35 a.m. for Fun Walk. Early registration $20. Day of race $25. T-shirts to all pre-registered runners and walkers.

Coastal Carolina Railroader's and Thomas the Train Exhibits
The model railroad and Thomas the Train exhibit brings smiles to enthusiasts of all ages. Thomas is a cheeky little blue wooden train with lots of friends and accessories that makes him so lovable. On a grander scale, the double track HO scale model railroad is a marvel of detail and technical know-how. A must see for enthusiasts. Check out Thomas the Train layout in the Carolina Coastal Railroaders space at the Sudan Temple.
Labrador Field Retriever Demonstrations
John Weller, Weller Kennels, demonstrates the talents of his trio of Master National Hunting Retrievers. Weller has a lengthy record of wins in regional and national competitions with retreivers he has trained. A long time returning favorite at MUMFEST!
