Breaking and entering, larceny suspect still at large |

On Dec. 10, 2010, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office received a report of a Breaking and Entering and Larceny that occurred at a residence on Gilead Shores Road in Blount's Creek. The victim reported several items stolen including jewelry. The Sheriff's Office began an investigation, collected evidence, and conducted interviews. As a result of the investigation, Investigator Ernest Moore applied for and obtained warrants charging Gregory Latham, age 18, of Fort Canal Road in Chocowinity, and John McLawhorn, age 17, of Chandler Road in Chocowinity, with two counts each of Felony Breaking and Entering, two counts each of Felony Larceny, two counts each of Forgery of an Endorsement, three counts each of Uttering a Forged Endorsement, and three counts each of Obtaining Property by a False Pretense.
Latham was arrested by the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office on Jan. 11, 2011, and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $15,000 secured bond set by Magistrate Smith. McLawhorn is still at large.
